Late March we took a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale on Holland America ship the Eurodam. Travelled to the southern Caribbean. Here are a few photos of the trip.
Half Moon Cay: Holland America’s private island. Definitely a full beach day, make sure to get a clamshell to get out of the sun now and then.

Grand Turk. This used to be our favourite stop with beach and small shops within a short walk from the ship. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville is just at the edge of the beach. This time the area was crowded by two cruise ships causing almost 6000 tourists on the site. In this case the smart move was to stay on ship and enjoy the pool and onboard services.

Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. We reserved an over water cabana here at the cove. Weather was warm but overcast and had rained the day before, so the water was cloudy and churned up. Nice place to just relax and explore the area.

Curacao. Our first time here. The island is comprised of lava rock with numerous little coves for swimming. Some of the shoreline is very rugged.

Bonaire. We took this 55 year old Chinese Junk out to nearby Klein Bonaire island to do some snorkeling along the beach.

Aruba. Strangely I don’t have any photos. We’ve been here before. It was extremely hot out and we went to the local shops. After a little shopping and melting it was back to the ship to float in the pool.

10 days on the ship is just the right duration for us. 7 days seems too short and 14 gets to be too much. Next year we’ll set off from Vancouver to explore a cruise up to Alaska.
